Finally, last week, my friends and I took a break from our hectic schedules. We needed a break from work to cope with our family, work, and never-ending to-do lists. So we came up with a plan for a road trip to Kondgaon Dam. Early on a Saturday morning, the five of us got into my friend's car and drove out on an adventure that promised to be both fun and serene.

Nestled amidst the beautiful Raigad region of Maharashtra, the Kondgaon Dam is surrounded by the magnificent Sahyadri mountains. It is about 100 kilometers from Mumbai and is the ideal weekend getaway. Whether you are a nature admirer, a photographer, or simply looking for some relaxation, Kondgaon Dam promises an unforgettable trip.

The Journey to Kondgaon Dam

Kondgaon Dam's drive is an adventure in itself. The trip was just as pleasant as the destination, thanks to the smooth roads, lush greenery, and serene mountains. We loaded the car with snacks and baggage. We had a great time on the journey because of the music-related conflicts among us, the impromptu snack stops, and the stunning scenery.

Best Time to Visit Kondgaon Dam

The rainy and winter seasons are the best times to visit, even though the dam is stunning all year round. In winter, the place is perfect for a cozy outing due to the lower temperatures, but in the rainy season, the lush greenery and overflowing dam create a stunning landscape. Although the water level can be low if you go in the summer, the landscape is still worth witnessing.

Where to Stay Near Kondgaon Dam

Rangnekar's Village is our favorite resort near Kondgaon Dam, where you can spend the night for a real village experience. This charming resort offers a perfect combination of rustic charm and modern comfort. You can enjoy traditional Maharashtrian cuisine, including scrumptious paneer and meat dishes.

Nearby Attractions

Lonavala, another prominent hill station, is only an hour's drive away, which makes it easy to visit both places in a single trip. For a fantastic two-day, one-night weekend getaway, we suggest spending your first day exploring Kondgaon Dam and its surrounding area and then moving on to Lonavala on the next day.

Directions and Tips for Visiting Kondgaon Dam

To visit the Kondgaon Dam, head towards Pedli village. Once there, turn left or seek directions from any villager. The majority of the road is smooth, but when you get nearer to the dam's parking area, be prepared for some off-road driving. The viewpoint is only a 15-minute walk from the parking lot. The view from here is extremely stunning, and you will scream, "Wow!"

Remember to snap lots of photographs and document your adventures. Be mindful that the water's force can be tremendous, so keep a safe distance away from the dam itself. Your safety is our top priority.

Note: Taking public transportation to Kondgaon Dam might be difficult, so for a more convenient and pleasant journey, we recommend renting a car.
